The Great Hokai is a major event that serves as a mechanism to scale down the balance of power throughout the universe. Over a length of time, per the laws of physics, mortals are very apt at creating and maintaining energy and power, much of which is destructive and thus poses a threat to himself, others, and the fabric of space itself. The Hokai was likely implemented divinely to keep control over the limits of mortal power.
Even though the Hokai doesn't physically alter anything, it has basically led to the fall of major powerful galactic civilizations. Because of the devastating effects, history is often erased of what came before it, thus meaning past hokais are not documented - so there's no way to identify a cycle. The last Hokai occurred roughly one billion years ago, destroying the unnamed cosmic superpower in the ancient universal revolution and leading to the rise in power of the Eldreyn and their universal supersystem.
Legend has two conflicting views as to whether it looks like a comet passing by or simply a grand flash of light throughout space.
Overview[]
The more powerful an individual is, the more of their power will be shortened. A mortal that can destroy a galaxy may be pushed down to only being able to destroy half a planet (even using the same power methods). A mortal that can destroy a galaxy might only be pushed to being able to destroy a planet, using as much power as they did before.
Over time, however, the universe adjust to the new power scale, and mortals can get more and more powerful over time once again like a cycle, and eventually be back at universe-busting level or beyond (by which time it is time for another Hokai). There are exceptions of course.
Lookout I - Great Universal Revolution[]
The Great Hokai finally arrived into universe 7 on 5 January 1125. It was extremely bright, yet dim, and etched across the space sky like a paintbrush, for everyone to see. Many around the universe had their telescopes out to see it, including KJ and Kuzey atop a hill at the Earth Observatory. Sora, Asura, Leogian, Mars, Kyunameii, and Zion were there observing as well and asking questions. The Hokai was sent by Elyus every 500 billion years to signal a multiversal retcon is coming in 8 months. However it gave Eldreyn ultimate power, so they had to stop the System before then.
